Mind & Body Integration
An eight sessions exploration of some wellbeing tools to increase our self-awareness and ability to self-regulate using some somatic psychotherapeutic principles.

Mind & Body Integration
Atelier One
Over the next eight sessions we will be exploring some wellbeing tools to increase our self-awareness and ability to self-regulate using some somatic psychotherapeutic tools. In our first session we looked at the ‘The Seven Body Wisdom Principles’ by Manuela Mischke-Reeds and how we can learnt to relate to our experiences through mind body tool.
Fo home practice you are invited to take a body snap shot using the following prompts:
How is my body feeling today?
What is the sensation of this ____ in my body right now?
If this area (body part) could speak right now, what would it say?
Full details in the handouts which can be found HERE
Atelier Two
In this weeks session the emotional literacy wheel was introduced as a way of deepening the language we have to explore the experience of being with our body. We then move in to the meditation practice, a 360° perspective of the body scan, zooming in and out of the body exploring the the raw data of the body “as is.” Present-moment body awareness—direct communication from our deeper self or embodiment. This is a moment in which we are not bound by past or future, and can live in the present moment. We often describe this simple yet elusive sense as coming home, being close to oneself, or simply here.
Home Practice is a shortened 360° practice of 3-5 minutes you will find the prompts and the emotional literacy wheel in the handouts HERE.

Atelier Three
This week we will explore grounding in the body to create calm in the midst of chaos. When you are connected with your internal resources, you are able to be more present in your everyday life. We practice some exercises especially helpful when you feel you need extra grounding, when you anticipate something might be challenging.
You can visualise and practice these exercises anytime you get stuck, don’t know the next thing to do is, ha a decision to make, or just to ground yourself in wellbeing.
Slides and home practices HERE.
Atelier Four
In this weeks session we cultivate an inquiring mind and move away from ‘why’ questions into curiosity and empowered knowledge through the wisdom of our bodies. How self discovery leads to insight and good decision-making based on real-lived knowledge.
Please take great care of yourself within the practice and the scenarios you chose to sit with. As always if anything arrives in the practice that you would like to explore please do reach out.
Home practice is to each time someone asks you how you are to check-in on the emotion wheel and pinpoint more detail than ‘I’m well than you’. Emotion wheels (French and English versions). Slides from session here
Atelier Five
This week we revise and incorporate the last four sessions key tools with longer periods of silence and less guidance.
Home practice is a simple breathing space in which you are welcome to experiment and add in any or all of the following:
Body snap shot
360° bodyscan
Support network
Grounding/leaning in to the body.
Breathing meditation can be found HERE.
Atelier Six
Deepen the mind body connection with a movement based body scan. Learning to listen and pay attention, exploring our bodies needs. Take what you find and weave some selfceare into your day, some stretches and movements to support your wellbeing.
Atelier Seven
This week we begin our preparation for the summer break, consolidating the learning over the previous year and reinforcing those neurological pathways. We particularly focus on the support team this week.
In preparation for the 9 week break and to build your autonomy around practicing independently, home practice is your choice. Check out the Soundcloud account HERE
Atelier Eight
Before sitting down to practice I invite you to set an intention for your mindfulness practices over the coming months, there is a two month break before the classes start again. I would suggest picking one activity based task to drop into each day and perhaps picking one longer practice, either from this series, or perhaps a movement practice such as a mindful walk or stretching session.
Within todays class we review and close for the season. If anything has come up for you that you would like to explore in more detail please do reach out.
Thank you for sharing this space with me,
warmly,
Josephine
